Suction and discharge dredging hose have different designs and functions. Here are some of them.
Function
Suction dredging hoses are to move sediment from the site to the dredge boat. While discharge dredge hose is to transfer the sediment away from the dredge boat and release them into a indicated area.
Hose Design
Suction dredge hose is typically larger in diameter and has a smooth interior surface to prevent clog or block. Discharge dredge hose, on the other hand, is typically smaller in diameter and has a ribbed exterior surface to make it more flexible and prevent kink.
Material
Suction dredging hose can bear abrasives. Thus it normally adopts rubber or PU. While discharge dredge hose adopts lighter-weight materials that are easier to maneuver. For example, PVC.
Fittings
Suction dredging hose has a flange fitting on one end to connect to the dredge pump. There is also a quick-release fitting on the other end to connect to the suction head. Discharge hose has a quick-release fitting on both ends to allow for easy connection.
Pressure Rating
Suction hose can handle low to moderate pressure, while discharge hose can handle high pressure.
